Mr. Dimitrios Efstathiou received his degree in Electrical Engineering from the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Patras in 1989. He received his master’s degree in “Digital Electronics” in 1991 and a PhD in “Digital Communication Systems” in 1996 from the Electrical Engineering Department of King’s College, University of London, Great Britain.
He has more than twenty-five years of industrial and academic experience in the field of Telecommunication Systems. He worked as a Telecommunication Systems Design Engineer at NOKIA MOBILE PHONES Ltd. in Camberley, Great Britain (Camberley, Surrey UK) from March 1995 to October 1996. During this period he worked in the research group of NOKIA (New Systems Technology Group). In November 1996 he moved to the USA to take up the position of Telecommunication Systems Design Engineer at ANALOG DEVICES Inc. in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA. From November 1996 to June 1997 he was engaged in research and design of DVB (Direct Video Broadcasting) satellite television transmission and reception systems. From July 1997 to July 2003 he was involved in research and design of digital up/down converters for Intermediate Frequency systems for 2G and 3G wireless mobile base station transceivers. In July 2003 he assumed the position of Chief Engineer of Telecommunication Systems Design. He was a program manager in the design of the integrated circuit for a 3G mobile base station transmitter. He holds four US patents in the field of Digital Telecommunications.
In May 2008, he took up the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Informatics and Communications of the Technological Educational Institute of Serres. From May 2019 till May 2024, he worked as a Reader in the Department of Information, Computer, and Telecommunications Engineering in the International Hellenic University (IHU), Serres, Greece. In May 2024 he was granted the rank of Professor.
